Company badge Feature in business central

If you work in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and often switch between multiple companies or environments, it's easy to lose track of where you are. Mistakes can happen—posting in the wrong company, updating incorrect data, or running a report in the wrong place. That’s where the Company Badge comes in as a simple but powerful visual aid.


What is the Company Badge?

The Company Badge is a small icon displayed in the top-right corner of every page in Business Central. It shows a custom description that you configure and serves as a visual identifier of the company you're currently working in.

When you click on the badge, a pop-up appears with additional details, including the company name and tenant information, helping you verify you're in the right place—at a glance.

How to Configure the Company Badge

Go to the Company Information page.
Select company badge as custom.


Select the Badge Color.


Locate the Company Badge Description.

Once you save your changes, Business Central will refresh automatically, and the company badge will start appearing across the system for that company.

Suppose, you may have a requirement to break long text into multiple lines after a certain number of characters in Business Central. For example, when dealing with lengthy descriptions in fields like "Work Description," it's important to ensure the text wraps properly to maintain readability. In this scenario, I have implemented a solution using a tableextension to automatically insert line breaks after a specified character length (45 characters in this case).
